I attended the Local Author Event hosted by the St. Charles Library this evening! I have to say it was an amazing experience where I had the honor of meeting other local authors and getting a chance to sign books for some readers.
The moment I stepped into the event room I was overwhelmed with one hundred other authors setting up their booths. I felt so small next to all of these accomplished writers and I think that is important. It is important to be humbled by others success and it is also important to embrace that success.
I quickly set up my booth and prepared myself to melt into the background but I didn't. Instead I greeted the readers that ventured from booth to booth and made connections with local authors. Originally, I had felt so small but I grew into my confidence the moment I got to my booth because even though I am young, I am an author on my way to success.

It is November the release of "The Museum" and The month of "Thank you's". I am thankful for all of you! This is also NaNoWrimo which means I will be writing 1,667 words a day on my novel that I am hoping to have come out the Fall of 2016. Two novels a year is my goal! Seeking Incandescence comes out in the Spring and if I work hard enough then I should be releasing The Wish Maker's Servant, the beginning of the Wish Maker Series, that fall. Wish me luck!

Runner's High

Sweat drips down your neck, the stomach clenches with each breath you take, your legs bend and buckle. Pain. Everything hurts. You want to give up but you push forward. You have to finish the last stretch. Then as if the sky opens up you find your self rejuvenated, you are still running but excitement runs through your veins. The mysterious runner's high, except it isn't actually mysterious, there is a lot going on with your body. However, this not a blog about the human body so we will skip that. I am experiencing my own kind of running high.
Not the fit and active one, I wish I could say I was experiencing that. Instead I have had a revival kind of week. With 17 credit hours at my university, looming deadlines, sleepless baby, and a series of unfortunate lateness I had found myself breaking down mentally. This mental pressure could be felt in my legs, back, arms, and even the tips of my hair. My entire being was weighed down and then like magic I found communication as my strength.
Sometimes I get so caught up in life I forget that people can help. People can lift the burden and that is exactly what happened and suddenly I could see all the good things that were happening. This week, the one I predicted would be from hell had turned into a fantastic week. Homework turned in, deadlines hit, and here I am with just enough time to write a little blog.
Stress is heavy, but not to heavy for a helping hand.

Captains log

Day 322
Just kidding, it is day seven of the promos. The launch for "The Museum" is only two weeks away. I have to finish some last minute edits, prepare an online launch party, and cook dinner. Looks like it's crunch time.

Here is the bio I wrote up for my author page on Amazon!

I am a writer with a dream. A dream that all of you will get a chance to see the variety of worlds I can create. Some can be dark and cruel while others can be sweet but steamy. Life is full of variety and that is what I want to share with you. I write science fiction, fantasy, and poetry. I like dark and strong characters. Characters who grow with each page, who show raw emotion for the worlds that surround them. These characters seek change, they seek incandescence.

Not only am I a writer but I am a middle school language arts major. When I was a little girl I hated writing until my middle school teachers showed me it was something to be proud of. I live in Missouri, with my husband and our new baby boy. My best friend and editor, Amber Scholl, keeps me focused on my due dates (school and books). My little family has helped me through the trials I have faced and those trials have made my life just a little more interesting. My characters go through trials because it is the way we overcome our obstacles that make us who we are today.

Baby and a Mad Woman

I like many people suffer from a common phenomenon, called taking on a lot. But we humans tend to do this for one very important reason, life is short. It is simple and cliche but it is true. So today as I juggle homework and edit promos, I take care of my adorable almost 3 month baby. Yes, I am a mad woman but life is to short to pretend to be sane.

The Journey of Promos

So here I am creating a blog for my first two books. I am ecstatic and overwhelmed. The promo aspects, the graphic designing, and the massive jump into the rabbit hole of social network are just a few things to think about. But I am excited to have all of you part of my journey. Thank you for your love and support. It really is an honor.
